Hi, I'm James, I'm 34, ex Welsh and British surfing champion.
On September the 16th 2012, I will be taking part in Ironman Wales which is a gruelling 2.4 mile open water swim, 112 mile bike ride followed by a 26.2 mile run!
I am doing it to raise money for the Welsh Air Ambulance which is an amazing charity which serves us all. After having had 2 family members airlifted in the last 3 years Ii feel its time to give something back to this amazing service.

Wales Air Ambulance saves time and saves lives.
The charity provides vital air cover across the whole of Wales for life-threatening illness or injury. Its 3 red and green helicopters are confronted with a diverse and challenging landscape, but from mountain tops to city roads, Wales Air Ambulance can reach any corner of Wales within just 20 minutes.
The fast response times and access to such difficult locations increases the chances of getting to a hospital within the Golden Hour. This is the first sixty minutes after trauma, and a patient’s chances of survival and an early recovery are greatly improved if they receive the most appropriate care within this crucial hour.
Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, Wales Air Ambulance has responded to more than 14,500 missions since its launch on St David's Day 2001. Each mission costs approximately £1500.
The charity relies solely on public donations to raise over £5 million every year to keep the air ambulances flying for Wales.
